WFTS Producers course starting soon

I started WriteForTheStage in 2012 and, over the years, I‘m delighted to say that there’s been a large volume of work from past participants, gracing the stages of Manchester’s fringe scene, as well as finding homes in some of the UK’s most established theatres.

Writers from the course have had their work performed at a wide range of venues such as Royal Exchange, Contact Theatre, Oldham Coliseum, as well as at The Kings Arms, 53Two, Hope Theatre, and at the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival.

A couple of years ago I realised that lots of people were finishing the course and finding themselves a little stuck - they had their script, but they weren’t sure of what to do with it.

So, I developed the WriteForTheStage Producing course to help people learn the ropes in production for the fringe - necessity being the mother of invention and all that.

The course explores all of the necessary skills you’ll need to bring your first production to life - we cover the crew, the tech, marketing, casting, and we apply for funding with Arts Council England.

Now, there’s never any guarantees as far as funding is concerned, but just under half of the people who have completed the course have successfully achieved their funding budget. And lots of them put their shows on as profit shares.

The course runs online and will help with the run-up to this year’s Greater Manchester Fringe Festival. It runs as three-hour sessions once a month and is suitable for anyone who has a project (or the idea for a project) and would like help with getting it off the ground.

We’re going to be starting in April - the first session will be running on 6th April and places book up quickly for this particular course, so get in touch ASAP if you’re interested in taking part.

Check out the WriteForTheStage courses page for more information.

Also due to start next week are the Intro and Advanced courses.
