We’re very excited to launch the WriteForTheStage Prize for New Writing, 2019.
WriteForTheStage are official sponsors of the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival, and we team up each year, over the entirety of July, to celebrate the fantastically high standard of brand new work produced through the festival.
The first prize for the WFTS Prize for New Writing is a publication with WriteForTheStage Books. We’ve been running the prize since 2015 and began to publish in 2016. So far, we’ve published:
John FK Hoyle - Trigonometry, performed at The Swan, Dobcross, 2016.
Elliot Hughes & Hidden Track Theatre - Standard:Elite, performed at Nexus Arts Cafe, Manchester, 2016.
Dan Ireland-Reeves - Bleach, performed at The Kings Arms Theatre, Salford, 2017.
Jonathan Hall - How To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse, performed at The Kings Arms Theatre, Salford, 2018.
Cody Daigle-Orians - 18 Victoria, performed at 53Two, Manchester, 2018.
Winners from previous prizes have gone on to take their work all around the world, with requests to produce the work from theatre producers after they’ve read the script through WFTS Books.
The playwright retains the entirety of their rights over the work; we merely distribute it. We’ll help to further champion the work by making it available in both paperback and Kindle versions, distributed through Amazon channels.
We have gathered a prestigious company of judges from theatre professionals who come and see your work during the festival. Then we get together an fight it out to find a winner.
Applications for this year’s award are now open and are open until 29th June.
