Studio Salford Development Week is back!!!

We're really excited to announce that Studio Salford Development Week is back and will be running from Mon 1st October until Sun 7th, at The Kings Arms Theatre.

We'll be announcing the full programme in a couple of weeks. We always have plenty of extra slots, so if you'd be interested in trying out your latest work-in-progress, then get in touch asap.

Studio Salford Development Week is a work-in-development space. It's an opportunity for playwrights, stand-up comedians, spoken word artists, poets, dance troupes, and musicians, to try out new work in front of an audience. It's also a brilliant opportunity for book signings, workshops, open auditions, and open rehearsals.

Basically, we're pretty much open to anything. Past audience members will certainly vouch for that! It's a brilliant week of discovery for an audience.

We'll have our ever-popular Intro showcase, sharing the work from the last term's WriteForTheStage Intro course. And we'll be sharing the brilliant work from the previous term's WFTS Advanced course throughout the week.

We run our Development Week Challenge - we offer local playwrights a slot to fill with a brand new piece of work, written primarily to debut during the event. It's a great way to get over that crippling procrastination! Past Development Week Challenge participants have taken their creation into full production and to Arts Council England-supported national tours to critical acclaim.

The audience is invited to provide written feedback to help develop the work, which goes directly to the artist, and we collect donations in a bucket at the end of the show to help fund the event.
