WFTS GMFringe Development Conference - a new initiative The GMFringe has been running since 2012 and standards have been raising every year. Nonetheless, we also recognise that many new companies bring new work to the fringe and need some extra support. We think that our open policy of inclusion makes the fringe THE essential place to cut your teeth. You get the opportunity to present your work in front of audiences of industry peers and entertainment lovers alike. You put a lot of passion, time and energy into bringing your work to life - and we'd like to be there for companies, both new and established, to help you get the most out of your GMFringe experience. Previous shows from the GMFringe have gone on to nominations and wins at the Manchester Theatre Awards and sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe. Countless shows use the Manchester Fringe to try out their new shows before they take them to Edinburgh. But those big success stories have had experienced crews and professional support. So, we decided that the next stage of the evolution of the festival was to provide greater support to everyone who wants it as a means of driving quality for future festivals. Studio Salford Development Week is in its sixth year. Over the years, we've presented work that has been written especially for debut at Development Week which has gone into full production, as well as many pieces that have had their first airing in front of an audience who give written feedback. And, as a device for Studio Salford WriteForTheStage , to give the work created during the courses an airing. Development Week had become an established twice-yearly event. Development Week 11 runs from 1st - 7th Oct. Mon 1st until Fri 5th is a great programme of brand new work never previously performed; from WriteForTheStage and local emerging and established artists. Most events are free during the week. But over the weekend (Sat 6th & 7th Oct) we're putting together a conference of workshops, talks, Q&As, and fringe surgeries dedicated to making the 2019 fringe the best ever. Expect workshops presented from WriteForTheStage and local professional trainers and practitioners. Workshops will cover stage writing from a wide range of perspectives, spoken word, comedy writing and performance, actor workshops, directing workshops and much more. Delegate passes are £20 for the weekend. Or you can attend individual workshops for £5. Booking is open very soon. In the meantime, information about Development Week 11 can be found at DevelopmentWeek.eventbrite.co.uk
