WFTS Workshops during the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival

Studio Salford WriteForTheStage have been sponsoring the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival for the last 3 years and we're very proud of our alliance with this brilliant, inclusive festival that provides a platform for the huge amount of talent in Greater Manchester and beyond. Work that's appeared at the festival has been nominated and won Manchester Theatre Awards, gone on to national touring and the festival has become a springboard for some of the best work to emerge from this great region. This year we have a programme crammed with amazing shows throughout the whole of July. Grab a brochure and plan out your festival viewing. July's going to be a brilliant month.

We're running the WriteForTheStage Prize for New Writing again this year. The first prize is a publication with WFTS Books. Last year, the award was given to two plays - Standard:Elite by Hidden Track Theatre and Trigonometry by John FK Hoyle. Both pieces are available from Amazon as both Kindle editions and as paperback.

The Greater Manchester Fringe Festival is a perfect opportunity to run workshops, share skills and get people writing and thinking about how to bring work to the festival next year.

Every year we run free playwriting and producing workshops and this year is no different.

The only difference this year, however, is that we'll be running the workshops online, opening up access to people beyond the region, so that they can, too, take part in the Greater Manchester Fringe.

We'll be running workshops on the following dates -

Sun 2nd July - 12-2pm

WriteForTheStage Free taster session -

Try out the process we follow in the WriteForTheStage courses for yourself. We'll mine the imagination for themes, characters and objectives and will end the session with a great starting point to develop into a piece of stage-writing.

Sun 9th July - 12-2pm

WriteForTheStage Producing free taster session -

Come and learn some skills that will help you to produce a piece of theatre for the fringe. We'll explore the team, marketing and sources of funding.

Fri 21st - Sun 23rd July

A full weekend of focused workshops, writing sessions and one-to-one development. Think writer's retreat from the comfort of your own arm-chair. And without costing £700!

Open to first time writers and experienced playwrights.

£100 for the full weekend.

So, July is going to be jam-packed with great things to do! Go to www.greatermanchesterfringe.co.uk for up to the minute info!
