Rehearsals for Avoidance are now well underway. Although we've applied for funding, we still don't know whether we've got it yet (we really should have planned ahead a little more), so we're working on the basis that the project is a profit-share. This means that we're starting with very little by means of budget and are hoping to make our money on box office, at which point we'll share the profit with the actors and the people involved in putting the project together. It also means that rehearsals have to be staggered, rather than in the customary block. It makes rehearsals more difficult to arrange, but when you've got a great team who are dedicated to the project, it's possible. Our actors - Jo Dakin, Anthony Bacon and Greg Kelly - are great. Super talented and great fun to work with.
We're running a Crowdfunder - for profit-share projects, these are especially essential in order that we can put the piece together. It's always awkward asking for money, but if any of you feel that you might be able to contribute something, however small, to our project, it would REALLY help. We'll be publishing the script through WFTS Books, so anyone who contributes will be listed in print in the published version. That will most likely be released mid-September this year, if not earlier.
Anyway, we're rehearsing tomorrow at Terrace Bar on Thomas St in the Northern Quarter. They've generously given us their great Community Space for free for our rehearsals. We're rehearsing from 10am and will be broadcasting some progress from the rehearsal on Facebook Live from 2.30pm tomorrow for around 30mins, so if you fancy a sneaky peek at the rehearsal process, join us online.
