Avoidance VLOG #1

We started rehearsing for the upcoming production of my new play, Avoidance, last Saturday. I've put some rehearsal footage together in a VLOG about the production.

We have a really excellent cast and I'm really excited to finally be getting the piece up on its feet. The piece explores some new territory for me - faith healing, grief and the importance of family. It's quite a dark piece but definitely has my usual dark level of humour running through it, so there are definitely some laughs as well.

I went on the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain last year and got inspired by the idea of pilgrimage and purposeful walking and there are elements of this in the play. I wrote it, originally, as a Studio Salford Development Week Challenge. I wrote the first draft really quickly and it was read as a rehearsed reading in front of an audience who gave feedback, which I took away and took on board with the next draft of the script. After a bit of workshopping and some more feedback from an audience, the script is now ready to go in front of an audience. I'm really excited about this piece - it's something really personal and I can't wait for you to see it.

Check out the first VLOG.
