Sacha's Song springs to life - #DevelopmentWeek9Blog

Manchester - create

There is a quote often repeated in the WriteForTheStage classes that goes along the lines of “In Manchester, if you want to do something creative, you already know the people that can help you”. We’re not exactly sure who actually said this so we just generally attribute it to Tony Wilson, erroneous or not.

The point is that this quote is very true.

I needed an element of musical expertise in this play. I knew of a musician who regularly stuns crowds with his drumming on Piccadilly Gardens. I asked him if he’d like to get involved, and he did.

I needed someone with directorial and marketing nous with an inside knowledge of the Arts to help me along. Luckily I’m friends with a principle employee of HOME MCR. Again I asked and he kindly agreed.

Then, of course, the credentials of Studio Salford: WriteForTheStage attracts the right kind of people. Having put out a casting call on this very site to recruit members for Sacha’s Song, I had a healthy response, spoilt for choice even. A wealth of talent to choose from.

And now here we are, ready to take on Development Week 9 with a full cast, a finely tuned rewrite of the play Sacha’s Song and a desire to succeed.

Tickets are FREE and can be booked here

Please feel free to look through the list for any other performances you may be interested in.

It’s going to be a good one!
