We have a great line-up of work at Studio Salford Development Week 9, which is running between 20-26th February at The Kings Arms Theatre in Salford.
Everything is FREE (apart from the Intro Showcase - £5). The event is supported by the lovely people at Arts Council England. The work is generally presented as a rehearsed reading and the audience are given the opportunity to give feedback to help with the ongoing development of the work.

Mon 20th Feb -
7pm - Quiet Riot, by Jude Wells.
WFTS Advanced. Like branches on a tree families grow in different directions , want different things for themselves and each other.
Yet their stories are interlocked and connected. Fiona has reconnected with hers ; she has things to share but finds out her parents do too, even if this is not the intended outcome of her visit.
Like the tree our roots remain the same.
8pm - Rainbow Rage, by Joan Bereford.
WFTS Advanced. Angie is at a crossroads in her life. She has always put others first. Will she make the right choices? The decision is all hers.
9.15pm - Avoidance, by Mike Heath
Michelle has cocooned herself in the family home after the death of her final remaining relative. Until Tom, her brother, returns after 15 years of unexplained absence. Faith healing and moving on. (Rehearsed reading) This is a new version of the piece written for DevWk8. New scenes, lots of rewrites - all thanks to the feedback received last time. Come along and see how it's developed.
Tues 21st Feb -
7pm - WriteForTheStage Intro Showcase - £5
The Studio Salford WriteForTheStage courses are a comprehensive guide to getting started and where to go next. Come and hear the rehearsed readings of this term's Intro group, performed by professional actors.
9.15pm - Ring Fenced, by Jayne Marshall
In a world where only 1% of the population own 80% of the wealth, how do the remaining 99% live, or should that be: survive?(Rehearsed reading)

7pm - Buried On Cooley Point, by Malachy O'Neil
WFTS Advanced. Art has lost his memory and returns to his childhood home to get it back but first he must confront the haunting memories of his past.
8pm - The Auberge, by Joan McGee
WFTS Advanced. Henry and Marie own an idyllic rural restaurant but their garden holds a sinister secret. The arrival of Steve and Claudia unleashes reminders of a tragic past.
9.15pm - No Tigers, by Dominic Berry (spoken word)
'No Tigers' is the new book of prize-winning slam poems by Dominic Berry. Hear a set full of laughs, love and lyrics taken from this exciting collection.
Thurs 23rd Feb -
7pm - Tremor, by Katherine McDermott
"We're going through a political earthquake & nothing will be the same".
Tremor is about the effects of seismic political changes on two friends and how they deal with them.
8pm - Sacha's Song, by Michael Campbell
WFTS Developing. Sacha sings but no-one hears. His song comes from the heart. Confined in hospital, it is only a matter of time before we all hear Sacha's Song.
9.15pm - The Cycle by Richard Stringer
WFTS Alumni. Jake and Katie discover that you don't really know someone until you live with them the hard way. As they uncover what's hidden in the closet. Can they beat it or will it destroy them?
Sat 25th Feb - WORKSHOP day
1pm - Writer's Challenge
Come along and write a piece to be read by professional actors at the public sharing at 7pm. You'll be given some stimulus to start you off, then you've got the rest of the day to write your piece. All writers welcome regardless of experience.
2pm - WFTS Free taster stage-writing session
The WriteForTheStage courses have helped over 100 writers in the last 4 years to bring their ideas from the head, onto the page and onto the stage. Come along and try out the process for yourself. We'll mine the imagination for theme, character and objective. Bring a pen and a writing pad. Booking essential.
4pm - WFTS Producing free taster session
Come and find out how to put a fringe production together. Booking essential.
5.15pm - Good Hunting, by Jane Tonge
WFTS Advanced. Info to follow.
7pm - Writer's Challenge showcase
Come and see the fruits of the labour of the writers who've taken today's Writer's Challenge. The work will be performed by professional actors.
So, there's a bit of diversity for you. If you haven't been to Studio Salford Development Week before, it's a great place to see work that will hit the theatres in the future and to get involved in the creative process, even if you've never been involved in creative projects before. Everything (apart from the Intro Showcase on Tuesday) is completely free to attend.
