Shout Out for Actors: to perform a rehearsed reading of a play at the ‘Studio Salford: Write for the Stage’ Development Week 9 (20th-26th Feb) at The King’s Arms Theatre, Salford.
Title: ‘Sacha’s Song’
Roles required: ‘Sacha’ – male, 26. Naïve, emotionally immature, orthodox Jewish man.
‘Jamie’ – male, 28. A roguish, troubled man with a level of insight.
‘Calvin’ – male, 27. A maladapted loose cannon, possibly on the Autism spectrum.
‘Annette’ – female, 52. A professional psychiatric Nurse whose institutionalisation is taking
its toll.
Synopsis: Sacha should have been discharged from the psychiatric hospital, yet administrative errors conspire to keep him there longer than required. He discovers a passion for singing and an ambition to star in the ‘X-Factor’. His behaviour threatens to jeopardise his release date, keep him in hospital and miss the audition.
This play has been performed before as a rehearsed reading at Development Week in a much earlier draft. It has been rewritten extensively since and the opportunity to see and hear it again would be much appreciated.
Once cast, a rehearsal session will be organised and directed by myself.
Unfortunately this will not be a paid endeavour, however, I am looking to produce this play fully in the future. The opportunity to be part of a paid or profit share production of ‘Sacha’s Song’ will be available to successful cast members.
Please send an email with your CV and a picture.
Audition date: TBC
Applications should be made by Sunday 12th February 2017 at the latest to give time for the audition and rehearsal sessions.
