We're due to start the Producing course again next weekend (Sat 5th Nov).
We focus on how to get a script from page to the stage - the art of self-production for the fringe. We cover all the roles, give you a chance to get a little directing practice, explore marketing, budgeting, casting, tech - basically you'll get an understanding of the full process.
Alongside the course, we write a bid for an Arts Council England grant. Out of the three participants who completed the Producing course last year, two of them got their funding, so the course effectively netted not far off £30,000 in financial support from ACE. The other bid was rejected on a technicality, so we'll be working to resubmit that soon, so hopefully we'll get three out of three. So the course could potentially pay for itself and then some and you'll get a professional fringe production under your belt. We haven't hit the minimum for the course to run this year yet though. The minimum is really 5, to make it financially viable to run. It may still run below that minimum, though. The course costs £150 and runs on the first Saturday of every month. I run it from my house in Levenshulme because we have good, reliable access to wifi which we really need for the course. You can join the sessions remotely if you can't physically get to the session. If you're interested or have any questions about the course, please don't hesitate to get in touch. For info, check out the other stories on the WFTS Blog. We need at least 4 confirmed participants by 1st Nov to confirm that the course will be starting
