Trigonometry by John FK Hoyle

I'm very excited to be launching the first of two winners of the WriteForTheStage Prize for New Writing awarded at this year's Greater Manchester Fringe Festival.

We chose Trigonometry as a worthy winner because the text just literally leapt off the page. We learn about the characters through action and very little exposition, and no word is wasted in this great script that starts off as what you think is going to be one story, but promptly turns into another, lending an air of complexity that you really didn't expect. It's funny and heartbreaking - a great combination for any stage play I always think.

It's a great play - do have a read. It's certainly got something of the Patrick Marber about it. It's available now from Amazon on Kindle and in paperback.

I'm so glad that we could offer the prize of publication to the worthy winners of the WFTS Prize for New Writing. The other winner, Elliot Hughes & Hidden Track Theatre for their great play, Standard: Elite, will be launched very soon. Elliot's currently working on a re-write and we'll be getting that ready for publication over the next couple of months. Watch this space!
