It's coming up to the time again for the twice-yearly Studio Salford Development Week. If you've never attended before, it's a great week of free events that puts the audience in the driving seat of the development of new work for the theatre and other mediums.
In the past, artists presenting work in its embryonic form during Development Week have used the feedback given by our audiences to further develop their work for full production, national tours supported by Arts Council England and for publishing. It really is your opportunity as an audience member to take an active role in the creative process and for artists to try out their new work before it goes into production.
We present rehearsed readings of all the work developed through the current term of WriteForTheStage courses, where professional actors perform the work, as part of the development of those new pieces of writing.
We also open the doors to anyone who has a piece of work lying around on a hard-drive (or in a drawer somewhere), providing a great opportunity to get the work off the page and into the real world. It's open to everyone, from established playwrights and theatre makers to absolute first-timers.
The week is a programme of rehearsed readings, open rehearsals, workshops and networking opportunities, all made possible through the great support Studio Salford WriteForTheStage get from Arts Council England.
Development Week 7 will be running from 26th Sept-2nd Oct - the full timetable will be released soon. If you have a piece of work that you've been working on that you would like to include, check out the guidelines and let us know that you want a slot. It's as simple as that - available slots are limited, though, so get in quick!
