WriteForTheStage Producing - going from Page to Stage and ready for the GMFringe

The next term of the WriteForTheStage Producing course is due to start in December. The course is timed perfectly to help support your production for the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival 2020, but it's open to anyone who wants to learn the ropes.

We explore the many facets that help to make a fringe theatre production a success, including:

  • Understanding the team

  • Casting

  • Budgeting

  • Preparing for the tech

  • Marketing - traditional print-based and social media

  • Content marketing

  • Applying for funding from Arts Council England

We've helped many new producers bring their first production to life for successful debuts and more experienced producers who want to develop their marketing strategies and to learn how to apply for funding.

While we absolutely can't guarantee that you'll get your funding, we will guide you through the entire funding application process (with Arts Council England), providing independent advice that should maximise your chances of getting your funding.

In the past, we've helped at least five productions get their funding, with an overall income exceeding £40,000. And most of the producers who have achieved their funding aims with us have gone on to get funding for subsequent projects.

But there's more to production than just pulling in the money. We'll teach you how to:

  • Allocate roles

  • Identify tech requirements (and minimise them)

  • Connect with casting platforms and put together a casting call

  • Effective audition technique

  • Prepare and understand a budget

  • Manage a profit share, ethically

  • Create marketing copy

  • Create VLOGs and BLOGs and how to distribute them for maximum impact

  • Develop social media channels for marketing

  • Search Engine Optimisation and how to be found online

And because WriteForTheStage is a partner of Greater Manchester Fringe Festival, we're particularly keen to help you make the most of your fringe experience.

Applications for Greater Manchester Fringe 2020 are already open, so if you're considering bringing a piece to the fringe next year but are a little nervous of the task in hand, then we're here to help.

The course runs online on Saturdays during the day, starting in December (numbers permitting).
